REMEMBERING THE KING OF POP

Remember today’s date, it will no doubt be marked as one of the most historical moments in Entertainment- The Michael Jackson memorial. Wall to wall coverage all day, performers at the memorial to include Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Usher and Stevie Wonder.

MJ will create even more pandemonium in death than he did in life -- his body will take center stage at the Staples Center in downtown L.A. today- it was announced earlier this morning that the family will hold a private memorial early in the morning at Forest Lawn -- where the body is now. After the ceremony finishes, the coffin will then be transported to Staples for what promises to be one of the biggest spectacles in L.A. history.

UPDATE

We've just learned law enforcement has launched a plan to escort Michael Jackson's body from Forest Lawn to the Staples Center.The plan calls for a "heavy motorcade" with the LAPD's SWAT team as part of the escort.There is also a contingency plan to helicopter the body to Staples if there's an issue of safety.We're also told approximately 100 people will attend the private memorial at Forest Lawn -- mostly family members. After the service the plan is to follow the body to Staples.

OTHER MJ DETAILS...

Now while this is all happening, a feud is boiling over regarding the expense of MJ’s funeral and memorial –more specifically WHO will pay for it. According to the LA Times, it’ll cost local taxpayers $2.5 million- many feel the Jackson’s should pay.

**2,000 POLICE OFFICERS- Parking will be a gong show today- The Holiday Inn across the street from Staples Center is charging $200 PER spot--and a few residents of local apartments tell us they are going to try and sell their garage spots for the day and just leave their car at work for the day.
