DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES "BOYFRIEND" IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

Desperate Housewives actor GALE HAROLD was admitted to USC Medical Center at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening following a motorcycle crash.

He was listed in critical condition yesterday.

The actor is being treated for a fractured shoulder and is under observation for possible swelling of the brain.Harold plays the boyfriend of TERI HATCHER's character, Susan Mayer, on Desperate Housewives. This season's eighth episode -- scheduled to air during the crucial ratings "sweeps" period -- calls for his character to play a crucial role in a storyline in which some of the leading characters are trapped in a nightclub fire. The show's creator and executive producer, MARC CHERRY, commented that they'll have to rewrite at least one scene because of the accident and will be awaiting further word from Harold's doctors before making any additional changes.
