HOLLYWOOD MOURNS

JOHN TRAVOLTA and his actress-wife KELLY PRESTON are still coming to grips with the sudden loss of their 16-year-old son, JETT TRAVOLTA. The teenager was found unconscious in a bathroom at his family's vacation home at a resort on Grand Bahama Island on Friday morning, having apparently suffered a seizure and hit his head on a bathtub. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Freeport, Bahamas.

An autopsy will be conducted by two pathologists today.In a statement posted yesterday on his website Travolta.com, Travolta and his family wrote, quote, "Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time that we had with him for the rest of our lives."

HEATHER OFF THE HOOK

HEATHER LOCKLEAR can look ahead to the rest of 2009 after resolving her DUI case on Friday. She was sentenced to three years of informal probation and a fine after her attorney pleaded no contest on her behalf to a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. Under the plea deal, the 47-year-old Locklear must also attend a driver's education program. Locklear was charged in November with driving under the influence of prescription drugs in connection with her September arrest in Montecito, California.

Thirty-two-year-old JASON MESNICK tries to mend his broken heart when the 13th season of The Bachelor premieres tonight on ABC. The single father from Seattle, who was rejected by Bachelorette DEANNA PAPPAS last year, will have his choice of 25 ladies. The two-hour Bachelor premiere begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

A new beauty pageant competition from ASHTON KUTCHER and TYRA BANKS will debut after The Bachelor. True Beauty will feature good-looking men and women who will be judged on both their inner and outer beauty through various challenges. VANESSA MINNILLO hosts True Beauty, which features Minnillo, veteran model CHERYL TIEGS and fashion expert NOLÉ MARIN as judges.
