BIG SCANDAL ON THE SET OF GOSSIP GIRL

In the Sept. 15th issue of Star, on sale next Wednesday, you’ll read that Leighton Meester, who plays uber privileged Blair Waldorf in the hot TV series, was born in prison. Details are coming out that she was raised by a relative while mom served out her sentence for her role in a major drug-running ring…BUT NONE of those details appear in the actress' bio, which falsely lists the young star as being born in Marco Island, Fla., where her parents moved in the late '80s. That’s not all, her Dad, grandfather AND aunt all did hard time in federal prisons for drug dealing!


NICKELBACK TO RELEASE ALBUM

Nickelback is putting out a new album November 18th…the first single, "If Today Was Your Last Day," will be out September 30th. Nickelback's new album is being produced by MUTT LANGE, the soon-to-be-ex-husband of SHANIA TWAIN. (Def Leppard/AC/DC)

HOWIE GETS STAR

Howie Mandel received the 2,368th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. He said it’s pretty ironic, seeing how he ALMOST left show biz.


TV TALK

Jodie Foster will be the adult voice of Maggie on The Simpsons in an ep that will air early 09. (Season 20 starts Sept. 28)

NBC officials won't confirm anything, but sources say OLYMPIC figure skater Scott Hamilton will join the cast of "Celebrity Apprentice," (January)...He'll join "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis, Joan and Melissa Rivers and Khloe Kardashian, and maybe...Dennis Rodman and Tony Danza.

NBC also announced that Anthony Edwards will be reprising the role of Dr. Mark Greene on the Nov 13th episode of ER this season. (flashbacks) - - Season 15th *Final season
