EVERYONE WATCHED

Olympics opening ceremony- In the US- 32.6 million viewers, the largest audience for a non-U.S. Winter Olympics opening since Lillehammer. Canadian: The most watched broadcast event in Canadian history. 23 million tuned in at some point, 13.3 million ppl watched every minute of it. (69% of the population tuned in at some point). Is anyone else disturbed by the short track speed skating uniforms? I couldn’t watch!

PS CONGRATS ALEX BILODEAU - GOLD FOR CANADA!!

TOO FAT TO FLY?!?

Director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike) was kicked off a plane for being too fat. (PS- he’s wearing an Oiler’s jersey in all the press photos around this!) So the story is, Kevin got on a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland to Burbank. Just as he was seated, the pilot ordered to have him removed, for the “safety of other customers”, cuz he was too heavy?!?! (worth noting, he always buys 2 seats…but since this flight was overbooked, only ONE was available and they thought he posed a risk). Kevin immediately went on Twitter and his podcast saying they treated him worse than a terrorist – and now Southwest is issuing their heartfelt apologies. Smith says he was able to put both armrests down and buckle his seatbelt, which is the standard Southwest typically uses to determine if a flyer needs to purchase a second seat. Southwest is working to make amends. The airline also added that it had accommodated Smith on a later flight, provided him with a $100 voucher and apologized by phone.”

I’LL TAKE THAT BAG!

Wanna buy Oprah’s wardrobe? Oprah is cleaning out her cluttered closet, and you can get in on the action. Queen O sifted through her massive walk-in and settled on 150 items to auction on eBay starting March 1st. A Bottega Veneta bag (which her producer says was a great piece but “too small” for Oprah’s frame), red suede peep-toe Prada heels (size 9) etc etc etc…
